Candle Care & Safety Instructions
General Candle Safety (Applies to All Candles)
⚠️ Warning: Never leave a burning candle unattended.
Before Lighting
- Remove all packaging, labels, ribbons, and decorative materials before use.
- Place the candle on a stable, heat-resistant surface.
- Keep candles away from drafts, fans, air vents, open windows, and flammable materials.
- Keep out of reach of children and pets.
- Do not place candles near curtains, bedding, furniture, books, paper, or other combustible materials.
- Ensure the candle is positioned upright before lighting.
While Burning
- Never leave a burning candle unattended.
- Burn candles within sight at all times.
- Keep multiple burning candles at least 10 cm (4 inches) apart.
- Do not move a candle while the wax is melted or while the flame is lit.
- Extinguish the candle if the flame becomes too high, flickers excessively, or smokes.
- Avoid burning candles in drafty areas.
- Do not touch or move a hot candle container.
- Keep the wax pool free from matches, wick trimmings, dust, and debris.
Extinguishing
- Use a candle snuffer whenever possible.
- Ensure the candle is completely extinguished before leaving the room.
- Allow the candle to cool completely before handling.
Discontinue Use
Stop using the candle when:
- Only 1 cm (½ inch) of wax remains in a container candle.
- Only 2 cm (¾ inch) of wax remains for freestanding candles.
- The wick shifts significantly from the center.
- The container becomes cracked, chipped, or damaged.
Scented Jar Candle Care
First Burn
- Allow the candle to burn long enough for the wax to melt evenly across the entire surface.
- This may take 2–4 hours depending on candle size.
- Proper first burns help prevent tunneling.
Wick Maintenance
- Trim the wick to approximately 5 mm (¼ inch) before each burn.
- Remove any carbon buildup (“mushrooming”) before relighting.
Burn Time
- Do not burn for more than 4 hours at a time.
- Allow the candle to cool for at least 2 hours before relighting.
Container Safety
- The jar may become hot during use.
- Always place on a heat-resistant surface.
- Do not touch or move the container until fully cooled.
Tealight Candle Instructions
- Place tealights only in suitable tealight holders.
- Never burn tealights directly on furniture or unprotected surfaces.
- Keep tealights separated to prevent overheating.
- Burn in well-ventilated areas away from drafts.
- Do not burn to completion if the holder becomes excessively hot.
- Extinguish before all wax is consumed.
Taper Candle Instructions
- Always use a secure candle holder designed for taper candles.
- Ensure the candle is firmly fitted into the holder.
- Keep taper candles upright while burning.
- Never allow the flame to contact nearby walls, decorations, or hanging objects.
- Extinguish before the flame reaches the holder.
Pillar Candle Instructions
- Place on a heat-resistant candle plate or tray.
- Burn away from drafts to avoid uneven burning.
- Trim wick to 5 mm before each use.
- For best performance, burn until the melt pool reaches near the outer edge.
- Do not burn longer than 4 hours at a time.
- Extinguish when approximately 2 cm of wax remains.
Decorative / Mould Candle Instructions
Important
Decorative candles may drip or release more wax than container candles.
- Always place on a large heat-resistant plate or tray before lighting.
- Remove all tags, ribbons, packaging, and decorative accessories before use.
- Some decorative candles may lose their original shape during burning.
- Never burn directly on furniture or unprotected surfaces.
- Stop use when the candle becomes unstable.
Beeswax Candle Instructions
- Trim wick to 5 mm before each use.
- Burn in a draft-free environment for best performance.
- Allow the wax pool to develop evenly during each burn.
- Beeswax candles may naturally develop a white surface coating (“bloom”), which is a normal characteristic of pure beeswax.
- For pillar-style beeswax candles, use a protective candle plate to collect any wax drips.
Soy Wax Candle Instructions
- Soy wax candles require a full melt pool during the first burn to prevent tunneling.
- Burn for 2–4 hours during initial use.
- Trim wick to 5 mm before each burn.
- Do not burn for more than 4 hours continuously.
- Allow the candle to cool completely before relighting.
- Soy wax may naturally develop slight frosting or color variation; this is normal and does not affect performance.
